UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that the UK is suspending approximately 30 export licences for military equipment, following its review of Israel’s compliance with international humanitarian law in the course of its military operations in Gaza.

The 30 licences (out of a total of around 350) include components for military aircraft, helicopters, drones and items which facilitate ground targeting. Officials say the government has concluded there is a clear risk that items exported to Israel might be used in serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Officials emphasise that this is not an arms embargo and that the government’s assessment is not designed to prejudge the outcomes of work by international courts, such as the ICJ and ICC.

Donald Trump has been briefed by US intelligence on threats from Iran to assassinate him, his campaign said.

The Republican presidential candidate was briefed "regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States", the campaign said in a statement.

It did not elaborate on the claims, and it was not immediately clear if the threats it referred to were new or had been previously reported.

China says major military drills held around Taiwan are a "stern warning to the separatist acts of Taiwan independence forces".

Tensions in the Taiwan Strait remain high, with China viewing the island as a breakaway province, with which it promises to one day reunify.

The UK, France, Germany, and Italy have released a joint statement saying Israeli attacks on UN peacekeepers are contrary to international humanitarian law and must stop at once.

Israel called on peacekeepers from UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) to leave their posts, where they have been stationed to preserve peace since a war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, but they declined to do so, citing UN Resolution 1701 and the humanitarian needs of civilians in the south.

Meanwhile, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to hit Hezbollah "in all parts of Lebanon" after his forces struck the north for the first time in a year of hostilities.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has warned against deliberate attacks on peacekeepers after Israeli troops breached one of their positions.

It said peacekeepers in Ramyah, southern Lebanon, were in shelters when two Israeli tanks "forcibly entered" their position, requesting that the base "turn out its lights".

that's the average number of children that women have.

Work has begun on the Royal Navy's newest warship with the first steel cut on HMS Formidable – the latest Type 31 frigate being built for the Senior Service.

Five in total will be constructed at Rosyth Dockyard in Fife and the new ship will take over the role currently being carried out by the Type 23s.

A SpaceX booster rocket has returned to Earth and been caught by giant robotic arms - following a successful launch of the company's reusable Starship spacecraft.

Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey YouTube channel!

My name is Rokas. I'm a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises.

Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton.

After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my YouTube channel called "Martial Arts Journey".

Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries.

The sport of MMA has exploded in over the last 15 years. Fighters come together and compete in various art forms, hence the name Mixed Martial Arts. The most popular art forms that viewers will see are Brazilian JuJitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, and boxing. Every once in a while, you can even see some other lesser-known art forms such as kempo, french savate, and even capoeira. There have even been a couple of instances where Shaolin kung fu has made an appearance. That's the beauty of this sport.

The Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Festival, held each year on International Day of People with Disability, is a unique, free community event that promotes active lifestyles for people with disability, inclusive communities and social connectivity.

With over 40 exhibitors and three activity zones, attendees can try different inclusive sports, meet Paralympians, take part in the Get Active Challenge, watch teams compete in the AFL Wheelchair Corporate Challenge and witness the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The festival is a one-stop-shop for Victorians to learn about, explore and try different types of inclusive sport and recreational activities through hands-on activities and information sharing. This information exchange allows attendees to explore new areas of interest and make an informed choice about physical activities that may be suitable for them to pursue in their own community.

Twenty schools and 120 young people from the county attended the Disability Sport Wales (DSW) athletics development day held at Parc Y Scarlets.
The pan-disability event was a chance to try out a number of different disciplines and find out more about the local athletics club and opportunities available in the area.

The Scottish Disability Sport Young Start Apprenticeship is transforming the lives of young people with physical, learning and sensory disabilities and the participants they are influencing. 27 young people worked together with mentors to influence an estimated 1500+ participants throughout this year.

Well, the Disability Sport and Rec Festival has been running for a number of years now.

And Reclink Australia has been involved since the beginning.

We’re here along with all the other fantastic organisation providing accessible sport and recreation around Melbourne Victoria.

What means the same for people of all abilities, that sense of social engagement, sense of inclusion and getting to be a part of something, the physical benefits, and what we’re seeing at the moment is a bit of a transformation throughout Sport and Rec Victoria where more and more opportunities are available to people of all abilities.

A lot of these sports today are actually fully inclusive so people with disability and without disability can play.

But it’s really about social participation and I guess helping people see that there is no difference with people with disability participating in sport, and it can be a blind sport, it could be deaf sport, it doesn’t matter, it’s just sport.

The Wheelchair AFL came on board probably four and a half years ago.

We had the Nationals come on first.

So we started off with seven players, now we have 50 players playing for Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon, Richmond, St Kilda.

And we have about 90 people registered to play all together, so it’s grown really, really, really fast.

Yeah, disability and wheelchair resonates with me quite well as my grandma is an incomplete paraplegic, so she’s been basically in a wheelchair since she was 19.

What we’re seeing today is the culmination of a lot of investment that Sport and Rec Victoria has committed to, assisting the sports to think more about how to make what they run more accessible.

Australia's peak national body representing athletes with a physical disability changed its name to Disability Sports Australia during 2013.

The change reflects a contemporary evolution and vital work achieved in engaging people across Australia from the grass roots to elite Paralympians who compete or work in sporting endevaours of all abilities.

Paul runs a young people’s project in Newham offering sports to participants with disabilities. Paul tells us about his son who lost his sight at the age of 10. Paul and his son were determined not to let that stop his interest and passion in playing football. They eventually found football teams that did blind football training sessions. His son now plays  for the England in the partially sighted football league.

This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a ten-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Over the course of the project we aim to reveal as many facets of the capital as possible, seeing city life from 1000 points of view.

It's an international language, anyone can play sport. It's not a talking language, it's a showing language for me. You can teach people just by showing them.

I always got injured playing football. I used to play for a Saturday afternoon team, I just took a qualification and started to do sports coaching in football and it just fitted. I just loved it.

My dad was Welsh and their national sport's obviously rugby. So he loved the rugby game, never so much the football. My older brother went through, played quite a good status of rugby. I didn't really favour rugby, I like the round ball rather than the eggchasers.

My son lost his sight. Fourteen years ago now, he was in primary school. The teacher I know 'cause I work in the primary school said to me: Liam's writing's off the line. So I said: ok, we'll take him to the optician. And then he went back to school, got a phone call in the afternoon and they said: there might be something wrong, could you take him to Moorfields? We sat up in Moorfields, we was there about 20 minutes and we went from there to Great Ormond Street and he spent 10 days in Great Ormond Street and lost his sight within them 10 days. It was like a blind coming down. It just gradually came down and he lost his sight completely.

Big challenge to be honest. Yeah. Changed everyone's life. He was just getting on with it, but it changed everyone's life within the family and within the grandparents and the aunts and uncles. Everyone's life changed. But we just looked at him, he got on with it, so we just get on with it. Yeah.

(filmmaker Daniel) Can you tell me what that is? (Paul) Yeah, it's a blind cup competition where Liam's team finished second got runners-up in it and that was the medal they got. Yeah, very proud, come away with a runners-up medal, it's literally like the FA Cup of the blind sports, yeah.

Liam got invited to a disability photoshoot at Highbury. They all had a slot. His team was going in and he was with me and I was talking to someone and we missed the slot. So I had to go and bang on the door and asked if he could have a photo done. And Thierry Henri, as you can see in the photo, pulled him in, picked him up, sat him on his lap. He had an individual photo when he should have been in the group.

So it changed my life, I went from being a mainstream coach diverting off into a disability session. With any disability if you can adapt the sport that you're doing, they can play. It keeps you upbeat. They come there and they enjoy it and they feel happy. So I'm happy with it, so.

The Adaptive Sports & Inclusive Recreation Initiative aims to increase knowledge, awareness, access, and participation as it relates to adaptive sports & fitness among sixth grade students and physical education teachers in Ann Arbor Public Schools by embedding adaptive sports and inclusive recreation as part of the physical education curriculum.

This chapter introduces Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) as the Scottish governing and co-ordinating body of all sports for people of all ages and abilities with a physical, sensory or learning disability.

Eli A. Wolff directs the Inclusive Sports Initiative at the Institute for Human Centered Design, and is the co-director of the Royce Fellowship for Sport and Society at Brown University. From 2001 to 2010, Eli was the manager of research and advocacy at the Center for Sport in Society at Northeastern University. He also led a global effort to include provisions addressing sport and recreation within the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Eli organized the national disability sport organizations to support professional golfer Casey Martin in his successful
case against the PGA, and he helped to establish the ESPY Award for Best Male and Female Athlete with a Disability. Eli is on the Board of Directors for the United States Olympians and Paralympians Alumni Association as well as Partners for Youth
with Disabilities. Eli was a member of the Varsity soccer team at Brown and was a member of the United States Paralympic Soccer Team in the 1996 and 2004 Paralympic Games.

This talk will provide an overview of how Paralympic sport has reflected, and helped change the position of people with disabilities in society and how now, with the advent of new technologies, Paralympic sport is often the site for the highest levels of sport performance.

Dr. Yilla received his master’s and doctorate degrees from the Texas Woman’s University, and two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Nottingham, England and the University of Texas at Arlington. His research focus is the explication of the lives of individuals with disabilities, elite disability sport, and in particular, wheelchair basketball. He is a Paralympic medalist, coached national and international championships in wheelchair rugby and has won 19 national championships in wheelchair basketball (8 in Great Britain as a player; 6 as a player, and 5 as an administrator in the USA).

Multiple leading international organisations have united to launch WeThe15, which aspires to be the biggest ever human rights movement to represent the world’s 1.2 billion persons with disabilities.

Launched ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, WeThe15 aims to end discrimination towards persons with disabilities and act as a global movement publicly campaigning for disability visibility, accessibility, and inclusion.

Spearheaded by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and International Disability Alliance (IDA), WeThe15 brings together the biggest coalition ever of international organisations from the worlds of sport, human rights, policy, business, arts, and entertainment. Together they will work with governments, businesses, and the public over the next decade to initiate change for the world’s largest marginalised group who make up 15% of the global population.

Harnessing sport’s unique ability to engage massive global audiences and create positive change, the IPC, Special Olympics, Invictus Games Foundation and the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (Deaflympics) have teamed up for the first time in history. The four organisations will use the profile of their international sport events and athlete communities to further raise awareness and understanding of the issues facing persons with disabilities around the globe.
Joining the sport organisations in this decade of action are International Disability Alliance, UN Human Rights, UNESCO, the UN SDG Action Campaign, the European Commission, The Valuable 500, Global Citizen, Global Disability Innovation Hub, the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), International Disability and Development Consortium, C-Talent, Global Goals Advisory, ATscale – the Global Partnership for Assistive Technology, Zero Project, and the Global Alliance of Assistive Technology Organisations (GAATO).

Aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, WeThe15 aims to change attitudes and create more opportunities by:
• Putting persons with disabilities at the heart of the diversity and inclusion agenda
• Implementing a range of activities targeting governments, businesses, and the public to drive social inclusion for persons with disabilities
• Breaking down societal and systemic barriers that are preventing persons with disabilities from fulfilling their potential and being active members of society

Did you ever wonder which muscles you use when you ride a bike?

As cyclists, triathletes we tend to think about the quads. Those dominant muscles are indeed of great importance the pedals, but it takes more to keep pushing those watts.

The primary muscles used in biking are the gluteal muscles, quadriceps, hamstrings and calf muscles. The quadriceps are the large muscles on the front of the thigh that are responsible for straightening the leg and pushing the pedal down towards the ground. The gluteus maximus and medius are located in your buttocks and are responsible for pushing the pedal forward at the top of the stroke. The hamstrings are located on the back of the thigh, and they work with the calf muscle to lift the pedal up from the bottom of the stroke. All of these muscles work together to give you power when pedaling and endurance when riding.

Tadej Pogacar has won Il Lombardia 2024 after an attack with 48 kilometers to go in his umpteenth exhibition of the season, the best in cycling history. Not only that, he claims that he has done it totally clean and that he should not be burdened with the dopers of the past. Remco Evenepoel has to settle for second place, more than 3 minutes behind, a record that hasn't happened since the doped Eddy Merckx won the 1971 Giro di Lombardia.

This cycling instructional video was filmed in Girona, Catalunya, Spain; a cycling mecca that has been home to many professional cyclists including Ben O'Connor, Jack Haig, Esteban Chaves, Ryan Mullen, George Bennett, James Knox, Dorian Godon, Jay Vine, and at one point George Hincappie, Lance Armstrong and Tyler Hamilton. Girona is used for training for races such as the Tour de France, Volta Catalunya, Vuelta Espana, Paris-Nice, Giro d'Italia and more. Teams such as Bora-Hansgrohe, INEOS-Grenadiers, Israel-Premier Tech Pro Cycling, Human Powered Health, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team, UAE Team Emirates and others use Girona for team training camps and rider testing.

Monte Grappa is an incredible climb located north of Venice, Italy, steeped in history. It marks the start of the Alps to the north, it’s 1775m high, and there are 10 different roadways to the top. Ollie is about to take on the challenge of climbing every single one of them—totalling an elevation gain of twice the height of Everest. These might just be the hardest hours of Ollie’s entire life... Will they break him?

"I did good. Now what are they gonna say? They said I don't fight young fighters. They always talk, but I'm the best fighter in the world,” said Canelo.

In the latest edition of the historic boxing rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico, Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs) sent his legion of fans into a frenzy early as he connected on a perfect left hook midway through round three that sent Berlanga (22-1, 17 KOs) to the mat. Berlanga was able to make it through the round and tried to impose his physicality on Canelo, with the two getting tied up, trading low blows and nearly hitting the canvas in a tense moment during round five.

"I got a little angry with his tactics, but I'm Mexican man,” said Canelo. “It means a lot to fight on this day. It's an honor to represent my country on this day.”

"I'm upset because at the end of the day I'm a winner,” said Berlanga. “I fought a legend tonight and did my best to represent Puerto Rico. We're fighters and we try to throw our opponent off their game. I took his best shot and I knew I could take his punches and return them. I could have jabbed a lot more, but I was in there with a legend.”

Using the ring generalship that’s made him a future Hall of Famer, Canelo continued to control the action, turning up the heat in the later rounds, landing 16 power shots in round eight and 20 in round ten, according to CompuBox. The punch stats reflected Canelo’s dominance throughout the 12 rounds, as he out landed Berlanga 201 to 119.

"My experience and my talent was the difference,” said Canelo. “It's about hard work and intelligence. It's everything together. If you have talent, you need discipline as well.”

Berlanga remained game throughout, continuing to throw punches and look for openings, even as Canelo broke him down with his varied attack. In the end, Canelo’s 49% connect rate on power punches buoyed him to victory by scores of 118-109 twice and 117-110.

"A lot of people say we can't, but we can,” said Canelo “Las Vegas is like a second home for Mexicans. We are warriors and we never give up. I’m going to rest and then I'm going to decide what's next."
