Members of the British parliament broke into laughter on October 18 when New-Zealand born Tory MP, Paul Beresford, visibly struggled to understand his Scottish colleague who was speaking with an accent.
Beresford initially apologized to Scottish National Party's (SNP) David Linden before asking him to repeat his question. But after a second attempt he sheepishly suggested Linden speak more slowly.
After two failed attempts in the miscommunication, Deputy Speaker, Lindsay Hoyle, suggested they resolve the matter by letter.

Iain Dale speaks to bestselling author and podcaster Rory Stewart, with one week to go till the general election.
On Rishi Sunak he told Iain Dale:
"I thought that he was somebody who was very, very confident in argument. So you could see that in the debate last night. He's very good at arguing. And I as a minister when I was trying to convince him of something, we'd often get in these very long arguments and he's very good at that kind of debating.
But I never felt that he had the kind of big sense of who he was and where he stood on the really big issues .I wasn't completely convinced on where he stood on Brexit. I couldn't understand why he endorsed Boris Johnson so quickly, except because he wanted to get a fast track into the cabinet.
It's very understandable that many other people I joined Parliament with were like that -Matt Hancock Priti Patel had a bit of that going on as well.
I think in a way to survive as Prime Minister, he needed to have a sense of who he was and who his values were.
His biggest chance. I still think as if he'd come in and said, โI'm distancing myself from Liz Truss, Boris Johnson. I'm going to vote on this privileges committee report. This is a disgrace. This is a new direction. I'm changing thingsโ. He might have had hope in this election."

As Rachel Reeves prepares to deliver the budget on October 31st, Labour appears to be losing credibility on the economy. The announcement of changes to the winter fuel allowance โlooks vindictiveโ, and the so-called โfreebies scandalโ has further damaged voter perceptions.
In this question and answer episode, a listener asks: who are Labourโs policies actually for?
Hannah Barnes, Rachel Reeves and George Eaton discuss this, as well as the forthcoming debate on assisted dying and the policies from Labourโs first hundred days in power which have gone unnoticed.

Labour has won the General Election.
Rishi Sunak conceded defeat in the General Election after winning his seat in Richmond, Yorkshire.
Labour and the Lib Dems have both taken seats off the Tories as former Justice Secretary Sir Robert Buckland became the first former minister to lose his seat after Labour took Swindon South.
He has been followed by Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, Justice Secretary, Alex Chalk and Leader of the House Penny Mordaunt.
Labour is on course for a landslide, according to the exit poll projection, with 405 seats.
The Conservatives are set for 154 seats. It has become the worst result since 1832 for the Conservatives.
